My 7 Favorite Stained Glass Suppliers

Spectrum Light Purple Artique

With the holidays coming on, and commissions piling up, GeekyGlass needed to stock up on glass and glass supplies to get through the holidays. Many of my students inquire as to where they can purchase stained glass supplies, so I’ve made a handy list of places to purchase everything from glass to soldering irons and copper foil. I don’t get kickbacks for these; they just happen to be my favorites:

1. Wondering where to buy glass supplies locally? The best supplier in Newfoundland that I’ve come across is glass artist Phil Mercer at 19 Chamberlains in Conception Bay South. He has a full stock of glass and supplies for beginner students. His glass studio phone number is (709) 834-1667

2. Within Atlantic Canada, I like purchasing from Cranberry Stained Glass and Atlantic Stained Glass, both operating out of Halifax.

3. Further west, I love A.J. Stained Glass and Fantasy in Glass, both operating out of Toronto.

4. Online, I love Etsy Seller Robin Ann Ramsden of GlassSupplies (she operates out of Colorado) as well as kentsupplies (Montreal)

[UPDATE:  I’ve also recently purchased from The Glass Place (Montreal) and love their online/phone service so much that I’m adding them as a favorite to this list!]

Spectrum Black WaterGlass

With my shopping done, the studio is stocked up with sparkling new sheets of glass, all ready for creating some holiday masterpieces! My personal favorites? It’s a toss-up between the shimmering black Waterglass and the smoky purple crystal-clear German New Antique. Wondering what the heck I’m talking about? Take a look at this fantastic Art Glass Dictionary at Spectrum Glass (hint:  you can also purchase from them directly, although it’s a bit pricey if you are shipping over the border): http://www.spectrumglass.com/stained-glass/dictionary.asp

Happy Crafting!
